21 Days of Prayer – Day 8

 In Fasting, Prayer
The reason why many fail in battle is because they wait until the hour of battle. The reason why others succeed is because they have gained their victory on their knees long before the battle came.… Anticipate your battles; fight them on your knees before temptation comes, and you will always have victory. —R. A. Torrey

Most of us are used to praying for things as we encounter problems, troublesome situations and trials but are not interested in prayer when there is nothing obvious or immediate to gain from it. Yesterday I was looking at pre-paid phones because they save so much money and they also don’t have that “gotcha” factor at the end of the billing cycle if you happen to go over on the minutes. What if we had more “pre-prayed prayers”? I think we would avoid some of the “gotcha” factor when situations and problems come up as they inevitably will.

What if prayer isn’t something that only is triggered in crises or when there seems to be a reason to pray? What if prayer was more like a seed that’s in our hand to sow for a future harvest? Maybe you’ve been on the fence when it comes to this 21 Days of Prayer because you don’t have an obvious need to pray for. Sow some seeds of prayer by faith. Ask God to do BIG things even when you don’t NEED something from Him. Pray for strength in trials BEFORE you get there. Ask for sustaining joy before you NEED it. Get into the Word of God and prayer when it seems like you don’t need it so it will be there when you do. When I get into a trial, I want to have “pre-prayed”.
