21 Days of Prayer – Day 7

 In Fasting, Prayer

Many who call themselves intercessors live depressed lives. An unstable lifestyle has been promoted by those who claim to be intercessors, but have not learned to “release” things in prayer. Travailing in prayer is not always a sign of true intercession. Many are not yet able to distinguish the difference between the burden of their own unbelief and the burden of the Lord.

I read the lines above in a book a few months ago and now I can’t remember where it came from…it’s good nonetheless!

There is a difference between a “burden” for something or a certain people group or person that God has laid on your heart to pray for and a “care” that brings us down. Scripture talks about the “cares” of this world. As soon as a “burden” turns into a “care” we need to cast it away from us. We need to remember that we are to “cast all of our cares on Him because He cares for us”. We should walk away from our prayer closets lighter than before. We should feel a little bit more free!

If God has given you a “burden” for somebody or something, pray away! If it’s a “care”, cast away!
