21 Days of Prayer – Day 10

 In Fasting, Prayer
James 5:16:Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

I love this verse because it talks about the power of prayer but there is also a hint of a direction that we should pray as well. It says to “pray for one another”. Jesus said that we would be known by our love one for another. There is nothing that will draw you closer to someone than when you pray for them. I believe that each day we can get closer and closer to being the family that God has called us to be and this is a great step towards that.

Would you take some time with me today and pray for others in our church? I’m not so much talking about praying that they would change or that God would “fix” this or that but rather praying for the blessings of God to come upon them. We can lift up their needs as well during this time but I think there is something healthy about just believing that God’s love would break into their world this week somewhere, somehow. Take a moment and ask God to bring to mind someone or maybe several people in our church to pray for. Maybe it’s somebody you don’t know real well…that’s OK. God may be leading you to pray for them because of things you may not have knowledge of. Be led by the Spirit. Let our love grow for each other. Let a spirit of unity come over our church today!
