We are studying the bible together as a church by reading the same chapters together and sharing our journal entries.  We are learning to journal using the “SOAP” method by Wayne Cordeiro.  Here is a quick description of how to do it.

SOAP Method

“S” – stands for “scripture”.  Write down the scripture that stands out to you or that you feel God is speaking to you from today’s selected reading.

“O” – stands for “observation”.  Write down what you see in that scripture.  What do you think it is saying?  What is it all about?  Write down your observations.

“A” – stands for “application”.  How can you apply the lessons learned, examples to be followed, promises to be enjoyed to your life today?  How will you be different because of what you’ve read?

“P” – stands for “prayer”.  Write out a short prayer to God based on your journal entry for the day.

That’s it!  I encourage you to write daily entries into your journal and then select some that you feel you could share with others online.  Just click on the blog post link below and submit your entry in the comments section.  Browse through other comments to see what God is showing other people in Journey Church!
